Dave was a teacher at Bishop Neumann HS in Williamsville NY. when I was a student there in the early 60's. He always kept you on the "straight and narrow." I then got to know Dave really well when we worked together at US Customs and Immigration in the late 80's and early 90's. He was a very intelligent man who always was willing to help new inspectors. Dave was very well liked and respected. He was very committed to God and his country. God bless you, Dave. Thank you for your military service.

My condolences to the Borgioli family. I have known Dave since 1952. I have so many fond memories of Dave. I remember going to his house on Busti Avenue and meeting his father Faust, his mother and brother Bob. He taught school and was also a Customs Officer on the Lewiston Queenston bridge. We both were heading to Engineering School but got sidetracked due to the U.S. Army, assigned to Ft Benning. I was an usher at Mary Ann and Dave's wedding. I know he was ill for many years. Dave you will be missed by many. Rest in Peace. Your friend and colleague Andrew Bellacose

Earlier yesterday, the news of Mr. Borgioli´s passing reached our family. To say that I was devastated is an understatement, and yet knowing that he is in God´s eternal grace free from pain and suffering offers some level of consolation. I had the fortune of meeting Mr. Borgioli on a cold Thanksgiving weekend in 1980. Immediately, we established a connection as we shared identical values and a common love of America and the military. In fact, years later, I invited him to attend the ceremonial breakfast upon conclusion of my Marine Corps training at the Infantry Officers´ Course (IOC) in Quantico, VA. Although his work commitments prevented him from attending the event, he sent me one of his previously worn Army Second Lieutenant ("butter bars") insignia, which to this day is a treasured collection of my USMC accoutrements (proudly mounted next to my other Marine ranks). Mr. Borgioli was a man in every respect - a Veteran with a firm handshake; a devoted husband and father; a pillar in the community; a loyal civil servant. And perhaps most significant to me, I viewed him as my "second father" as he was always willing to offer sage advice, an ear to listen to my rants, a morale booster when I needed his support, never judging my actions or decisions, and always extending his loyalty and unwavering love. I trusted him implicitly and shared with him my deepest thoughts about life in general, and my journeys in the Marine Corps - he was fascinated and captivated by my experiences in the Corps. Over the years, we often exchanged handwritten letters as a way to catch up on our lives, and reconnect over the many miles which separated us. Incidentally, his sense of humor rivaled that of my own father (both men met during the summer of 1981 and they too shared a common bond), and it brought me many laughs - he was quite the character. He will be missed, but my memories of him and our shared moments will remain permanent fixtures in my thoughts. I am forever grateful that my life was touched in many ways by his physical and spiritual presence. God bless the Borgioli family!
