UHRICH - David L., PhD
Age 81, of Westerville and formerly of Kent, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020, after a long illness. He was born on January 5, 1939 in Buffalo, NY, to his parents: Godfrey C. Uhrich and Marion Uhrich. On May 13, 1961, he was married to the love of his life, Delia Uhrich. David will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father, proud grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by so many. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Physics) at Canisius College in 1960, and obtained his Ph.D. (Physics) from the University of Pittsburgh in 1966. He was a respected faculty member of the Kent State University Department of Physics from 1967-1991, becoming a tenured Professor of Physics in 1976 and retiring as an Emeritus Professor of Physics in 1991. During his tenure at Kent State University, he authored numerous articles published in various physics research journals and publications. David was especially proud to serve a National Science Foundation Faculty Fellowship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Laboratory in Washington, DC, during the summer of 1977. As a specialist in Forensic Physics, David developed a successful private business (for over 25 years) providing professional consultation as an accident reconstruction expert. David was preceded in death by granddaughter Frances Ellen Mignery. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Delia (nee Riley) Uhrich; his children Jeffrey (Lynne) Uhrich, Kathy (Thomas) Mignery, and John Uhrich; grandchildren Matthew (Gracie) Mignery, Jack Mignery, William Mignery, and Lindsay Uhrich; sister Dianne (Jay) Pollitt; niece Debbie (James) Seldal; nephew John Pollitt; many cousins and a host of dear friends and extended family. Funeral mass to be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Westerville, Ohio at 10:30 a.m. on December 21, 2020. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.
