Deborah Major Obituary

Daughter of the late Hartwell and Ruby and brother to Rodney Major.

She leaves behind a memorable legacy in the Western New York community. Deborah was a political activist serving as a committee member for the Amherst Democrat Committee. At one time she was the youngest committee person serving. She ran for the New York State Assembly in the141st district and every four years she represented Western New York attending the Democratic National Committee's Presidential Convention.

Deb owned her own catering company for years and at one time it was the largest Minority -Woman owned catering service in New York State. She devoted many hours of cooking for many different events, families and devoted dear friends. She was a tennis enthusiast, Buffalo Bills fan and a Peter Frampton follower having attended over 20 of his concerts. Deb will be sorely missed by family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service is being planned to be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. The service will be announced at a later date.

I will miss Debbie so much. We´ve been friends since I was 13 and through high school and beyond. We talked often and never missed texting during a Bills game. Most of all, I miss her beautiful smile and candid remarks. Dear Rodney, please accept my sincere condolences. I will always cherish memories of your sister.

I remember Debbie fondly! Way back during our time as Supervisory Field Reps at a conference in Boston, (@2001?) Deb helped this country bumpkin overcome a fear of the subway system and we took a trip to Filene's Basement to check out some bargains. She was so fun!! Debbie helped us all weather the 2012 change from Boston Regional Office to NYRO and my interactions with her have always been upbeat and helpful. My condolences to family and friends. She will be missed and fondly remembered.

Debbie was a beautiful person who I was fortunate to meet during our high school years.
