Donna Dauria Obituary

Dauria, Donna L. (nee Pettapiece)

Nov 22, 1949 - Mar 22, 2025

Passed from this life on March 22, 2025, leading us onto our next adventure. Donna resided in Ithaca, NY, and Amherst, NY. Born to Edward and Frances Pettapiece (nee Seitz) in the University District of Buffalo with her siblings Susan, Janet and Edward. Married to Kenneth for 52 years, the greatest pride of their life was their four children; Nicole, Colin, Emily and Marissa; and their nine grandchildren Annabelle, Mattea, June, Malcolm, Miles, Remi, Orion, Grant and Kai. Donna's passion was teaching, advocacy for children, adventure and travel. Donna taught for 20 years after raising her four children. She taught in the school districts of Frontier, Buffalo, Syracuse and Clinton New York. Her life was filled with love, travel, adventure, and a wonder of nature, especially birds. Her favorite, almost spiritual place was Glacier National Park and hiking the fiords of New Zealand, to climbing the Bridge in Sydney, the streets of Rome, the unspoiled nature of the Galapagos and Amazon, the glories of Spain, Greece, and Morocco. Her lifelong friendship of Kathryn Lubick and Lyn Hornung was a gift she treasured. Donna passed from this life with her family, in the loving care of Hospice Buffalo and their compassionate staff. Her family will be forever grateful. Family will be present on Monday, April 7th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, April 8th, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the (Amherst Chapel), AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5200 Sheridan Drive (corner of Hopkins Rd.), where a funeral service will immediately follow on Tuesday, April 8th, at 10 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, contributions may be made to Glacier National Park Conservancy www.glacier.org or Hospice Buffalo, Inc. Share condolences at www.AMIGONE.com

Donna and I were "office mates" at the Cancer Resource Center as volunteers a few years ago. She was and is a beautiful soul. Go in Peace, my friend

One of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever known. Our Olmsted years were just the best. I admired Donna on so many levels. She was a wonderful, dedicated mother, a woman who got things done and she was a great friend. She will be missed by all of us who had the great pleasure of knowing her. My heart goes out to Ken, Nicole, Colin, Emily and Marissa. Donna will live on through all of the lives that she touched.

I am so sorry to learn of Donna's passing. She was a warm and loving person who, with Ken, raised wonderful kids and lived a giving life to all. Never will forget our time together working at Olmsted and having fun with families. My deepest regards to Ken and the children in this moment. May their memories keep Donna alive and loved.
