Doris "Doreen" Manns, considered the matriarch at Marrano/Marc Equity Corp., died Thursday at Absolut Care's Orchard Brooke assisted-living facility in Orchard Park, following a long illness. She was 77.
Even after being retired for more than a decade from her new home sales position at Marrano/Marc Equity, Mrs. Manns of Hamburg still holds the record for the most new homes sold in a single year and is considered the matriarch of the company. She enjoyed putting together the components for a dream home for her clients.
Mrs. Manns loved buying things almost as much as she did selling them. She was an avid shopper with an extremely generous nature. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Manns often told stories of their family vacations in Hawaii and how she and James "Bud," her husband of 60 years, visited the Islands 13 times, often staying for a month at a time. Her favorite memory was when they took the entire family – their children, spouses and grandchildren – to Hawaii with them.
Always impeccably dressed and accessorized, she took great pride in all she had accomplished in her career and her beautiful family. While she was serious about business and getting things done "the right way" (aka "her way"), Doreen always had a way of making people feel comfortable and special.
Besides her husband, she is survived two sons, John and Timothy; two daughters, Kathleen and Debra; a brother, Clifford; a sister, Francine; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and a memorial service will be planned at a future date.
