Edward CUNNINGHAM Obituary
Of South Buffalo, NY, February 3, 2021. Passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 65. Beloved husband of Debra (Egloff) Cunningham; loving father of Edward Cunningham III, Kelly DeMont and Katie (Phil) Shelley; the best Papa, ever, to Daryl, Olivia, Ethan and Evan; dear son of the late Edward and Lena (Weed) Cunningham; brother of Daniel (Judy) and David (Kathleen) Cunningham, Nancy LeVeque, Jean (Pete) Sampsell, Judy Godios, Suzanne (Frank) Perez and Mary Kieffer; also survived by many nieces and nephews. The world has lost a great husband, father, Papa, brother and uncle. Edward was completely dedicated to his family, including his fun-loving dogs, Hunter and Molly, that brought him so much joy! Edward also had a great career as a member of the Buffalo Fire Department, Local 282. He graduated from the Fire Academy with honors, and in his first year as a firefighter was awarded Rookie of the Year. He was also awarded the Edward H. Butler, Bravery Gold Medal award. He cherished his years as part of Rescue 2, where he was awarded many honors for the lives he saved. The family will be present Friday, February 5, 2021, from 4-7 PM, at the CASTIGLIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 873 Abbott Rd., South Buffalo, NY, 824-6435. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227. (Face masks are required.) We send our heartfelt sympathies to your entire family. The Cunningham Family is far reaching with the many family and friends from The Ward and SB. I am thankful to have been one of them. Your mother and father were cherished friends their loss effected many and Eddie´s does as well. All you need to say about him is he was a great guy and that says it all. He will be missed by many.
