Of Buffalo, New York, November 23, 2025, at age 88. Loving father of Christopher Porter, Matthew Porter, James (Keri) Porter; cherished grandfather of Carlie, Daniel, Blake, and Tara; dear brother of Laura Fabian, Andrea Lingenfelter (Spence); the late Anita Nevison and Marian Porter. Church Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, January 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at 1st Presbyterian Church at 1 Symphony Circle in Buffalo. Henry grew up in Buffalo, and attended Nichols High School, Cornell University and Cornell University Law School. After a brief stint in the U.S. Army in 1961 Henry became an attorney and practiced law right up until his retirement from the Lippes Mathias law firm several years ago. Henry was an outgoing and generous personality and made many donations to local institutions and charities including Nichols School, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and 1st Presbyterian Church. In the early 1970s Henry was part of the team that brought the Buffalo Sabres Hockey Franchise to Buffalo as he was the Corporate Secretary of the Buffalo Sabres in the franchise's early years. Henry was actually present in person at the draft where Gilbert Perrault was selected. Henry was a longstanding partner and member of the Lippes Mathias law firm where he was an expert in mergers and acquisitions and tax law and handled many of the firm's most significant transactions prior to his retirement. An avid tennis player, Henry was part of a United States Tennis Association Team that won a National Championship. An extensive traveler, Henry visited almost every single continent except for Australia and Antarctica and he had a significant interest in history and geography. He also maintained a property in Canada near Point Abino and was a member of the Buffalo Canoe Club. He touched the lives of many with his wit, his generosity, his kindness, his sharp legal and negotiating skills, his contributions to local charities, his love of family and his grandchildren, and though he will be dearly missed, he will always be fondly remembered.
