Hiroshi TAKITA Obituary
It's with profound sadness we announce the passing of Dr. Hiroshi Takita, August 6, 2023, age 92. A loving father of Mark (Delphine); a beloved life partner of Rosemarie Pitoniak for almost 40 years; former husband to the late Claire, mother of his son; and a beloved friend to many. Born in Japan, a graduate of Keio Univ. in 1960, he embarked on a remarkable path as a Thoracic Surgeon in Buffalo, where he spent over six decades tirelessly working to combat lung cancer. Hiroshi's legacy is one of unwavering dedication and boundless love. Relatives and friends are invited to join in remembering Hiroshi. Service will take place at the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME, 4614 Main St, Snyder, NY, on Tues., August 15, at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. It's with great sadness that I learned of Dr. Takita's passing. He was my doctor and friend long after saving my life in 1976 by accepting me as a patient in his experimental immunology treatment of lung cancer.

So sorry to hear of Dr Takita´s passing. What a great man he was. I scrubbed cases with him at Gates & Suburban for many years. He was small but mighty. His laugh was infectious. He was an amazing surgeon. So kind. He will be missed by so many. My condolences to his family. I know he ran up those stairs to heaven.

I was so sorry to hear of his passing. I worked with Dr. Takita at Millard Fillmore Gates and at Gates Vascular.
He was a wonderful surgeon. Endeared by many. All of us loved working with him in the OR. A sweet story , years ago, my daughter had to learn a poem in Japanese called "glow worm." I asked Dr. Takita if my daughter could speak the poem to him in Japanese. He readily agreed. In between cases he was on the phone, leg bent against the wall, arms folded in front of him holding the phone cord listening to my daughter speak Japanese. I hear him say so sweetly as he listened; agreeing," ahuh ", "ahuh" , Oh Yes!, glow worm, glow worm, yes, yes,! Very good, very good! " As he spoke he encouraged and giggled. I smiled at the whole moment. My daughter , who is married now, still remembers that day.

My deepest condolences. I had the extreme pleasure of working with Dr. Takita at the Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital and transition to the Gates Vascular Institute in the Operating Room. Wonderful Surgeon and true Anatomist.

Dr Takita gave my dad 25 years of additional life after he treated my dad for
small cell carcinoma at Roswell Park in the late 1980s. We are thankful for the
doctors treatment and care of my dad.
