HICKER - Ingwald "Troop" Franklinville, NY Retired NYS Trooper
Of S. Main St., died Thursday (August 5, 2010) at his home. Born May 22, 1913 in Rochester, NY, he was the son of Frederick and Hulda Kipphut Hicker. On February 7, 1942, in Franklinville, he married Lillian Fahey who predeceased him on November 5, 2009. Mr. Hicker was a 1931 graduate of West High School in Rochester, NY. He became as NYS trooper in 1936 in the motorcycle division until 1950. During World War II Mr. Hicker served in the Army with the criminal investigation division from 1943-1945. From 1950-1978 he served on the NYS parole board based in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Hicker was the supervising parole officer of Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. "Troop" was a member of the American Legion post 526 of Franklinville, where he was past commander. Member of the Allegany Mountain Chapter, of the retired New York State Troopers. He was the former oldest Trooper in New York State. Surviving is a son George (Kathryn) Hicker of Los Angles, and 2 grandsons Kolya and Kostya. His son George commented that in all the years, of the relationship of being a son, "I can never remember a negative moment". Friends may gather with the family on Sunday from 2-4 PM at the BABBITT & EASTON FUNERAL HOME, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (August 9, 2010) at 11 AM in St. Philomena's R.C. Church, 26 Plymouth Ave., Franklinville. Celebrant will be Rev. Joe Zalacca, pastor and Rev. Michael O'Hara retired pastor. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville. Memorials may be made to the Hicker Scholarship fund c/o Franklinville Central School, 31 N.
