James A. COOGAN

COOGAN - James A. Age 73, of the Tonawanda's, January 5, 2013. A resident of the City of Tonawanda for the greater part of his life, he was the husband of Maryann (nee Nowotarski) Coogan; father of Douglas J. Coogan, Kathy M. Coogan and Gregory A. (Angela) Coogan; grandfather of Mary Clare Coogan and was the husband of the late Helen J. (nee Cox) Coogan; also survived by his sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:15 AM in St. Andrew R.C. Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive in the Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd. Cheektowaga, NY 14227. Jim served two terms as Second Ward Alderman for the City of Tonawanda from 1980 until 1983. He was appointed Tonawanda City Clerk in 1984 and served for 10 years until 1993. He was also a member of The Erie County Clerk's Assn. He was a longtime member and Vice Chairman of The Tonawanda Democratic City Committee.
