Jim was kind & generous to me personally & to my organization. I remember him so well, even though our interactions were many years ago, when he was my client at the hearing aid practice in Sears, at the Eastern Hills Mall. I was employed there as a part time audiologist. We got to chatting & he talked about his time at Roswell. This was when my cancer was first diagnosed & I had become a Roswell patient. He was a good listener & very helpful to me, something I needed at the time. When I learned of his education & background, his teaching, etc. I asked if he would help me with Microsoft's Access program, for the organization dear to my heart, the Buffalo Gay Men's Chorus. He was of great help & as I recall, charged almost nothing, smiling thru all the back-&-forth & patient with all the interactions with me & some of the Chorus guys. What a gentelman he was! I will always remember him with a smile. My sympathy to all in his family. Dennis Stuart

Jim Gerland was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was a computer expert who was able to explain complicated processes in a plain language and always with a smile. I was grateful for his advice when completing my masters degree in library science and his assistance on projects while working for the graduate school of education at UB. He was a colleague, an educator and a friend. I am sorry for your loss. but so grateful for his kindness. May God be good to him.
