It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Wittmeyer, 76, on November 14th surrounded by his loving family. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Diana (Mickie) Wittmeyer; his daughter Stacy Ojala, her husband Ben and their three children Julia, Andy, and Ian; his son Bryan, his wife Jennifer and their children, Erin, Eli, Levon, and Isla. Along with his parents, he joins in rest his precious grandson, Bryan and Jen's son Liam, who held an extra special place in his heart. He also leaves behind a brother, Robert Wittmeyer along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. Jim was born in Eden, New York to Louis (Elmer) and Gertrude Wittmeyer. Although Jim had several different jobs during his life, his work is best defined by his service both to his country as a veteran of the Vietnam Era and to his community as a long-time mail carrier. Above all, Jim was known for being genuinely kind. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends and always had a joke to share and a smile on his face (unless he played a particularly bad round of golf). The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and love received during this difficult time. Always a giving man, Jim gifted his body to Elon University where the family hopes his donation will help get one step closer to finding a cure for Alzheimer's Disease. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the charity of your choice and to raise a glass to this wonderful man who will be missed by so many.
