While Ms Coughlin was a fab Phys Ed teacher...what many don´t know is she was part of a coffee group every morning at Costanzo´s bakery including my Dad, John Belle and friends. A lasting friendship was built and he thought the world of her.
May they both rest in peace!

I had the good fortune of having Miss Coughlin as a teacher early in her career in the 1950´s. First in the third grade and later in the sixth grade. As a third grader she taught responsibility in doing your homework and staying on task. In the sixth grade, she was a wonder at keeping her charges in line and had a deft ability to keep our young minds focused and wanting to learn more. Now in my 70´s, I realize what a great teacher Miss Coughlin was and a what a great influence she had on so many, many lives. Thank you, Miss Coughlin. You are surely with the angels now.

My prayers and condolences to Joan´s family and very large circle of friends. I have remembered her in Masses this week here at St. Michael´s Jesuit Church. I was blessed to be a fellow South Buffalonian who enjoyed her friendship especially during the years I ministered at St. Agatha and St. Ambrose parishes. Joan taught me a beautiful way to interpret Matthew´s parable of the pearl of great price and I have quoted her in many of my homilies. Her legacy lives on!

Joan was my colleague at Archbishop Carroll in the early 70's. Such a bundle of energy, joy and goodness!! Loved our Friday gatherings at Salvatore's on Delavan after school had finished. Always good for laughter, a good joke, a drink, and FUN! A terrific addition to the heavenly kingdom!

Miss Coughlin was a great teacher at Archbishop Carroll. She was also quick witted and funny. All the girls adored her. I remember her fondly and am grateful to have known her. May you be at peace, Miss Coughlin.

Ms. Coughlin was my gym teacher for 3 years at Archbishop Carroll HS (I graduated in1964). I remember her as a cheerful and a no nonsense teacher. Not being very athletic, I always thought she was torturing me but that's another story. I saw her again at my 50th reunion. She hadn't changed a bit! Sending sincere condolences to her family and friends.
