Age 91 of Corning, N.Y., passed away on Sunday November 16, 2025. Joan was born in April of 1934 in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Raymond F. and Helen M. Schroeder, and sister of Ellen Rae Harsted, who passed away in March of 2017. Joan had one niece, Sandra DeMoore; and two nephews, Thomas Lewis and David Lewis. Joan's brother-in-law, Andy Harsted currently resides in Acworth, GA. Joan graduated from West Seneca Central High School in 1951, and then attended Bryant and Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., graduating in 1953. She then worked as a secretary for a Buffalo, N.Y. Law firm. In 1964 she married William Ted Dupler, who was employed by Worthington Corp. He accepted a position in Houston, TX, where they then lived. Their son Peter was born there in 1968. In 1980 they moved to East Aurora, N.Y., and in 1987 moved to Corning, N.Y. In December 1993 Joan's husband Ted died of a serious heart condition. In 2014 her son Peter moved to the Philippines to marry his wife Raquel. In 2019 he returned to Corning to help his mother. Joan had a great sense of humor and spirit of kindness, she was always smiling and always helping others. She loved Jesus and enjoyed reading her Bible, writing songs and playing the piano, doing puzzles, taking long walks, watching the birds, loving on her cat, praying for other people, and eating ice cream and jelly beans. She was a woman after God's own heart and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. There will be a Celebration of Life held at Hope Church on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 6 pm. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Hope Cemetery, Corning at the convenience of the family.
