John AMBROSE Obituary
January 11, 2022, couldn't go on without his Elsie. Passed peacefully surrounded by family. John leaves to mourn children Cathy (Len) Smith, Laurie (Bob) Walsh, John (Candice) Ambrose; grandchildren Dorene (Tim) Major, Allison (Chris) Gullion, Elise Walsh and Jacquelyn Ambrose; great-grandchildren Maxwell, Miles, and Lucy; sister Ann Marie Notery, and other family and friends. He was predeceased by Elsie (Kress), his wife of 71 years, and siblings Anthony, Frances (Portera), Antonette (Spencer), Rose (Laucello) and Susan (Gautille). John was proud of his long career as a bartender, which included such notable venues as the Hotel Lafayette, Hotel Stuyvesant, Buffalo Trap & Field Club, Friar's Table and Samuel's Grand Manor. John was also proud of his Italian-American heritage and his service in the US Navy during WWII. Memorials may be made to the Per Niente Club Christmas Fund, the Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo, or the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY. In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 18, starting at 11am, at St. Martha's Church, 10 French Rd, Depew. He was a great man,I was his sons friend during grammar school and highschool,, grew up in the same neighborhood on the Eastside of buffalo,,I remember his bartending days,,he will be sadly missed . May God's angels comfort him on his next journey to be with his wife Elsie again to everlasting life.

I had the pleasure to bartend with John at Samuels Grande Manor for 11 years. He was great to work with, always supplying us with many laughs night in and night out. I am sure he has joined Elsie in peace. All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Ambrose family and May God Bless.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ambrose a few months ago. He was usually smiling especially when he received a second cup of coffee! I hope that memories will be a comfort to his family and that John may rest in peace with his Elsie.
