To my cousins Nancy and Harry, and to John's children, I send my sincere condolences. Though I have not seen John in many years, I have many memories of him when we were young. To this day I still carry the NRA Hunter Safety Course card, signed by John in October 1956. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

John and I spent too many hours together in the woods and other unmentioned places. I am saddened to hear of his death, and look forward to our future hunts together...he's gone ahead to scout the good spots out for himself...

I am so saddened to hear of John Long's death. Growing up with Jessica & Amy I always loved their Dad with his trips camping and incredible stories; he was a surrogate dad to many of us kids. He was a wonderful person and I feel fortunate to have known him. I will miss him dearly. Condolences from the Freck family. Love, Beth.

My life will never be the same without John, he was one of the most honest, sincere, and loyal friends anyone could ever ask for. I will miss him each and every day. Not being able to just pick up the phone and hear his smile in his voice will be difficult. My thoughts and prayers are with the family-they lost an incredible man but got so much enjoyment and love from him.
