My father really was an amazing man. Thank you to all who have sent prayers and thoughtful notes. We all have wonderful memories of dad, and I also thank those who have shared these memories and stories with our family at this difficult time. It is important that his legacy live on. Thank you all

To my cousins Nancy and Harry, and to John's children, I send my sincere condolences. Though I have not seen John in many years, I have many memories of him when we were young. To this day I still carry the NRA Hunter Safety Course card, signed by John in October 1956. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My sincere condolences to the Long family. John was a very good and caring man and cousin. For the memories when he came alone or brought his girls to Florida quality timespent. Itis very difficult to away at times like this.

Am saddended to hear of John Longs death. My condolences to John's family. Enjoyed the many fishing trips spent down here w/John and his buddies. Will miss all the stories that John was always telling.

John has been a great leader and mentor to the New York Outdoor Comunity for many years and will be missed by all.May God give his family guidance during these difficult times and give them thanks for sharing John with us.

John and I spent too many hours together in the woods and other unmentioned places. I am saddened to hear of his death, and look forward to our future hunts together...he's gone ahead to scout the good spots out for himself...

John and I graduated from Niagara in 55. His Dad and mine were great friends also. This is when it is so difficult to be away ... we now live in the Chicago area. I am so saddened to hear of John Long's death. Growing up with Jessica & Amy I always loved their Dad with his trips camping and incredible stories; he was a surrogate dad to many of us kids. He was a wonderful person and I feel fortunate to have known him. I will miss him dearly. Condolences from the Freck family. Love, Beth.

My life will never be the same without John, he was one of the most honest, sincere, and loyal friends anyone could ever ask for. I will miss him each and every day. Not being able to just pick up the phone and hear his smile in his voice will be difficult. My thoughts and prayers are with the family-they lost an incredible man but got so much enjoyment and love from him.

I felt so sad when I heard about john; he was one of the funniest guys I'd ever met; we had a ball hunting too!!! I hope your memories will bring you smiles,chuckles & mostly COMFORT.
