So sorry John. The pain of losing someone so loved is incredibly difficult. Time will help but the wound of such a loss will forever ache. Be gentle with yourself as you heal. My deepest sympathy.

Karen was a good friend who always tried to help others. She loved and cared for her family, friends and students. It was a privilege to teach with Karen at School 90. I admired her dedication to her students and learned alot from her.

To quote James Taylor ,who I know you loved his music. "I alway thought I would see you again." I have always believed those who pass away during the Easter season had to be very special people. Being the wonderful mom that I know you were to your children and the school mom to a very large number of children , God chose a very special day to call you home. I will remember and miss you forever.

Karen was my mentor at school 90 when I was a student at Buffalo State fine 2009-2010. We instantly connected because of our similar philosophies and dispositions of teaching young learners. She invited me to be her student teacher, so I was able to work with her for an entire year. The lessons and pedagogical knowledge I acquired from Karen play a part in my daily life as a mother and a current teacher. She was one of the GREATEST teachers in Buffalo...she was so passionate, energetic and engaging. I will miss her dearly, as we always kept in touch. I hope she's resting peacefully. I'm so sorry to hear family...I know how dearly she loved her husband and daughters. She spoke of you constantly I'm so honored I was able to work with her, and learn from her...she changed my life forever and left a lasting imprint...I'll continue to make her proud in the classroom as long as I'm able.

Our hearts break for dear Karen and her family. We truly learned much about early childhood education from Karen, and with her brilliant insight and inspiration, hundreds of other teachers now have the knowledge and understanding necessary to change the futures of thousands of young children. Karen's fingerprints are truly on eternity. Karen has truly made the world a much better and happier place for all the little lives that have been entrusted into her care. She will forever be remembered as a pioneer and guiding light in the education of young children, and I have never met an educator with such love and respect for her little sweethearts. She is, and will always be, an inspiration to all who know her.
Love, prayers, trust, and hope for brighter, happier days ahead! God is love and He, in His infinite wisdom, often surprises us with blessings and healing when we least expect it!
Love,
Sandy and Dan

Dear John and family,
What a huge loss for you and our community. I met Karen just once last year and felt so welcomed into your home and her presence. She was warm, gracious, funny, and exuded a certain "lightness" that I found embracing. My condolences to you all as you celebrate her life and love.
