To my cousins, The Lewis Family. I offer my deepest condolences for the beloved lost of your mother, your wife, your sister, and friend. Whenever the weight becomes hard to lift as you grieve, just remember we are the ones suffering, she is smiling and full of life on the other side. May peace continue to guide you through.

To Lateyfa's family,
I attended Lateyfa's funeral this week and I still can't believe that this happened. She was one of my most favorite students at Buffalo State, and such a talented jeweler she was! I was so struck by her warmth and her joy in living from the first day - she was talking about inventing a special floor mat, and she was also nervous about the competition she faced at the college. I sat in church with Stephen Saracino her mentor and head of Jewelry and with Barb the secretary of the department. We ran out of tissues. Know that no mother or wife lived her family and husband more than Lateyfa. She was still fussy about how things were done, and wanted only the very best for her loved ones. She would want you to strive to be and do your best - it is one of the things she sought of her friends and of herself - to try her hardest and be the best person possible. That is a wonderful legacy of love she left you. Most of all, I wish you peace. She hugged me the last time I saw her in the middle of July - wanted nothing more than to be in her restored house and be with you, Tony, and play with her grandbabies. It isn't fair, but there is a better life for all of us after this one.

To Tony and the Family. I don't have the words to express my shock and sadness right now. Remembering the times Tee and I shared, both in Buffalo and in Birmingham makes me happy that I had the opportunity to know her personally. You are in my thoughts and prayers continually. "Be Strong in the Lord and the Power of His Might." Love you all, your cousin Tootsie.

To my family words can't express the pain that i feel in my heart about the loss of our dear tee. she helped me to become the woman i am today. she was always there with a kind word, and to put me in my place when i needed that to. my trips home to buffalo will never be same, she was one the first i would go see. i thought of her the day she was taken from us and i keep telling myself i should have called then. the last time i spoke to her she and tony were about to move back into the house , and she was looking forward to getting things back together. i miss her so much, i keep shaking my head and can't wrap my mind around our tragedy. i love you family take care of each other. god will take care of the rest.
