Matthew MORAN Obituary
passed away on August 20, 2023. He was the beloved husband to Mary Cathleen (Cosgrove) and loving father to Angelina Cathleen and Caitlin Elizabeth. Son to William J. Moran, M.D. and Mary E. Moran (deceased). Brother to William Jr. (Ann), Megan Fitzpatrick (David), Brion (Rebecca) and Moira Veech (Michael). Son-in-law to Edward C. Cosgrove and Dorothea A. Cosgrove. Brother-in-law to Edward (Lori), James (Alisa) and Charles Michael (Marilee). Uncle to Liam, Julia, Luke, Jack, Charlie, Henry, Lucy, Edward, Kevin, Patrick, Timothy, James and Gabriella and step-uncle to Theresa (Daniel), Molly and Mary Kate.
Born February 6, 1969, Matt grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended St. Xavier High School (1987) and Xavier University (1991). He worked for the Principal Financial Group as a Market Director of Investments and for the last three years, he founded and hosted a podcast and blog entitled With Gratitude, Matt. In seventy-one podcasts episodes, Matt's goal was to inspire us to have the courage to be grateful regardless of how powerful the storm. Matt's wife, Mary and his daughters, Angelina and Caitlin were the loves of his life. He was passionate about his Roman Catholic Faith and his Jesuit Education. He had tremendous loyalty to his family, friends, classmates and his communities of Cincinnati and Orchard Park. Matt enjoyed attending and watching sports and loved his teams: St. Xavier Bombers, Xavier Musketeers, Bills, Bengals and Reds. Also, he enjoyed coaching sports at his daughters' school Nativity. Matt captivated all with his smile and kept life upbeat with his charming wit. Matt's enduring legacy is his message of faith, family, hope and love. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Matt Moran to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School, 4414 South Buffalo Street, Orchard Park, New York 14127 or to support kidney cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 and include "in memory of Matt Moran" in the memo line.Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Amigone Funeral Home, 6170 W. Quaker Street, Orchard Park, New York 14127. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2023 at Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 26 Thorn Avenue, Orchard Park, New York 14127. A private family graveside service and burial will take place at Nativity of Our Lord Cemetery.

I met Matt originally at Fidelity Investments back in the early 90´s and continued to work with him in the industry seeing him occasionally at industry conferences. He was one of the most positive people that I have ever known and was a true friend to all that met him. My condolences to his family as he will be missed for certain. Rest in peace my friend

Hi Mary, Angelina and Caitlin - I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Matt professionally and most of our conversations were about his love of his family and how you'd play tennis on the driveway during covid or how his girls were growing up. You there light of his life! He was a rarity in our industry, a man of character, nobility and courage. His loss stings because he brought life and value into this world. It was a blessing to know him.

This is devastating news, and I am heartbroken. Matt´s daughters and my daughter go to school together at Nativity of our Lord school. I first met Matt over six years ago at a birthday party for my daughter. Matt and I would talk about his cancer whenever we met at school or social events, and I was optimistic he´d beat this. I am devastated that that didn´t happen. My prayers and thoughts to his family.

I brought the Eucharist to Matt several weeks ago at Mercy Hospital .He was very devout and I was able to give him a Rosary since his had broken.Although I was meeting him for the first time, he made quite an impression. My condolences to Mary and the family. Please know you are all in my prayers.
