Passed away peacefully surrounded by care and love. He was a devoted father, brother, and friend, remembered for his strength, independence, and unwavering commitment to family. He is survived by his sons, Matthew Sauer Jr. and Michael West, and by his siblings: Barbara Sauer, Frank Sauer Jr., Thomas Sauer, Peter Sauer, Daniel Sauer, Robert Sauer, Andrew Sauer, Christopher Sauer, William Sauer, and Tina Graves. Matthew raised his son Matthew Jr. as a single father, working tirelessly to provide what was needed and leading by example through discipline, perseverance, and quiet sacrifice. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Canisius University in Buffalo, NY, while working and raising a young child - an achievement he was deeply proud of. Later in life, Matthew became a member of the George Washington Club in Buffalo, NY, continuing a family legacy. He eventually relocated to Florida to be closer to his son, a decision rooted in love and connection. Matthew was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at the George Washington Club in Buffalo, NY, on April 4, 2026. Full details will be shared by the family at a later date.
