Michael ZIELINSKI Obituary
Of Amherst, NY, August 29, 2022, at age 77. Loving son of the late Benedict and Velma Zielinski; dear brother of the late Audrey (Joseph) Zon; dearest uncle of Joseph, Martin, Timothy, Peter and David Zon; also survived by great-nieces and nephews. Visitation at the KOLANO FUNERAL HOME, 396 Amherst St. (near Grant), Friday, 4-8pm, where prayers will be held Saturday at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Church at 9:30am. Entombment with Military Honors at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Michael was a teacher, an administrator and then later the principal at Maryvale High School. He was also a member of the West Side Rowing Club. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Please share your online condolences at

Mr. Zielinski was assigned to our 8th grade English class as a Student Teacher back in 1968. We all loved him from the moment he stepped in the classroom! He was a fantastic teacher but more so an incredible human being.

Mr. Z was truly one of the best at Maryvale. He was the Asst. Principal when I was there and he was always so kind with an amazing sense of humor. As an English teacher, he would not be pleased with "principle" being used in his death notice. That surely would get some red ink along with some wisdom imparted. RIP Mr. Z you will be remembered fondly by all who knew you.

Fondly recalling Mike from Maryvale times, he was dedicated, hard working, professional, most of all a great friend to so many, always with students and staff the priority. Thinking back to his devoted efforts, he will always be alive in our hearts.

My sympathy to your family who have lost a truly good man.When my husband was ill , Mike would take him to the breakfast gatherings for retired Maryvale teachers which meant so much to Bob. He was a true gentleman in so many ways.
