Robert BONNEY Obituary

BONNEY SR. - Robert
Bob was deeply loved by his family, his friends, and his community. Every weekend was devoted to his wife and children for camping, picnicking, road trips, visiting friends, track meets and coaching his sons' baseball games. He was president of Bradley Gardens little league and a Scout leader. He accomplished much in his life, which began in the small town of Mexico, Maine. Bob had the high school basketball scoring record for the state of Maine, a record that lasted for several decades. He got his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Buffalo while doing research at Roswell Park. He contributed to the development of several important medical treatments as a research scientist and was Vice President of Dermatology Research at Bristol Myers Squibb. He gave many, many hours freely to his neighborhood association, the rotary, and the conservation club. Bob and his wife Judy were beloved babysitters for each of their grandchildren. He was an avid golfer who played right up to the end of his life. Bob was the loving husband of Judith (Perry) Bonney for 60 years and loving father to three sons, Robert, Mark and David. He loved his son-in-law James Mulloy, daughter-in-law Karla (Martinez) Bonney, and doted on his three grandchildren, Liam, Mya and Quinn and great-grandson, Beau. He was much loved by his brother Richard (Vickie) of Frye, Maine and Marie DeSeve (Gerald) of Sun City, Arizona. He was predeceased by his father, Samuel Bonney, and mother, Lorraine Bonney. His sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews loved him and shared wonderful Christmases and summer weeks at Hermit Island on the coast of Maine. A celebration of Bob's life will be held in the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to TheBostonHouse.org, a place families can call home while dealing with childhood cancer, by mail to 229 Kent Street, Brookline, MA 02446 or by phone at

My deepest sympathies to Judy and family. I was deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I worked with him at BMS. He was a brilliant scientist, a great leader, kind, and caring. Everyone thought the world of him. Now he and our mutual buddy Bob Williams are golfing together on the greatest course in the universe. God rest ye Bob. Thanks for being my friend.

So very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I knew Bob from grade 6 at St. Athanasius school through Mexico, Maine. He was a born leader. He was also so well and respected by all who knew him. We were lucky to be married into the Perry family. All my love and prayers to Judy and family.

The O´Grodnick family is deeply saddened by the news of Bob´s passing .we remember lots of family fun with the Bonney clan . Camping at Hermit Island, Kahill cabin trips and apple picking and making green tomato relish . Bob and Judy were like our second set of parents and their sons were "brothers" to me . Sending you thoughts and prayers during this hard time . Love you all , Nicole and family

Judy and family, words can not express my sorrow. Bob was a good friend in school, we did not see much of each other once we were married and went our separate ways. We always touched base whenever we could. Judy was one of my best friends growing up and in high school. My heart breaks for you Judy. May God bless her and your family. My Sympathy and love to all of them. Remember our fun days at Worthley Pond, good memories of old friends.
