Of Williamsville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2025. Born in Buffalo, he was the son of the late George and Mary Wood. He is survived by a daughter, Graciel (Williamsville, NY), and son, Darrell (Richmond, VA). Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elke. A man of faith, Robert was a lifelong member of the Williamsville United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for many years. He attended the Academy Street School and was in the first graduating class of Williamsville South High School. After graduation, he attended Erie County Technical Institute where he studied engineering. His passion for aviation led to a professional career in aerospace engineering at the Firewel Corporation, Aro Corporation and Carleton Technologies. Outside of work, Robert was a member of the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo and served as a volunteer for many years at their annual Warbird AirShow. Robert was an avid ham radio operator and earned the call sign W2ALP. Robert was a loyal fan of the Sabres, Bills and NY Yankees. He loved home and family most of all.
