Robert Zillig Obituary

ZILLIG-Robert Of Cocoa, FL; Age 89, passed away peacefully Friday, January 25, 2008. Robert was surrounded by his adoring family and the loving staff at Wuesthoff Hospice Care Center, Rockledge. Robert was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. He served a brief term in the Merchant Marines and was a machinist at Bell Aircraft in Niagara Falls, NY. In 1943, Bob married Shirley M Henry and began the adventure of his life. They had four children; the late Bonnie (Gann) (Quenzler) Zillig, Linda (Dorr) Zillig, Christine (Condon) Zillig and Steven Zillig. Their Daughter Bonnie tragically died in a plane crash in January 1992. A born Entrepreneur, Bob sold farm fresh eggs door to door, bottled and sold bleach and was a real estate salesman. At age 44, Bob invented the Jiffy-Tite quick connect fluid coupler. Through his ingenuity, keen business sense and customer focus, Bob and Shirley grew the business to manufacture and supply their product worldwide. In business, Bob was respected by customers and suppliers for his honesty, integrity and genuine care for others. Today, there are more than 140,000 Jiffy-Tite connectors sold per day on six continents. In his lifetime, Bob owned over 100 cars, 100 boats, and 4 airplanes. He and Shirley raced cars and boats, sailed the Great Lakes and toured North America in their motor coach. Bob and Shirley celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last September and were inseparable. There was a gathering of family and friends at the Lost Lakes Clubhouse on Route 524 one block west of I-95 on Sunday January 27th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Robert's family wishes to thank all the staff at the Wuesthoff Hospice Care Center for their guidance and loving care. Dearest Shirley:

I was absolutely stunned to learn of Bob's passing while I was out of town.

Needless to say, you and Bob were always in my prayer, and I will continue to pray that God will be with you and your family through this difficult time.

Bob was the most gentle person I have had the pleasure of knowing. While you will miss him, think of all the love he showered on you - you obviously was the "apple" of his eye.

My deepest condolences, and please know the special thoughts I have for you.

May you burst forth with joy each day.

Fondly,

Gary & June Schupbach

Hello Shirley, I was sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Thank you for letting me know. I am not sure if I ever met him as a child but reading his story was very impressive. Whether you are a Henry or married into the Henry family it seems that we are all family oriented and have been relatively successful in our lives and our family relationships. I am sorry that I did not have the chance to get to Bob better as an adult but maybe you and your family can come up to Fruit Cove to our next family reunion. I pray for God's hand to be over you and yours. Love, James( Edyth Naomi Henry's son.)
