Roger BALDINGER Obituary
November 20, 2021. Beloved husband of 65 years to Grace K. (nee Taylor) Baldinger; devoted father of Brian S. (Kim) Baldinger, Joanne R. (Joseph) Scavone and Barbara A. (James) Bandinelli; cherished grandfather of Ryan and Jenna Scavone, Katelyn (David) Weltz, Brittany (Steven) Zapel, Shannon and Kyle (fiancee Emily) Bandinelli and Leah and Thomas Baldinger; great-grandfather of Cameron, James Kelly, and Xavier; dear brother of the late Paul Baldinger; brother-in-law of Jim (Carol) Taylor; uncle of Scott Taylor and Laurie (John) McKernan and cherished "Uncle Roger" to his Letchworth Family. After 33 years at NY Telephone, Roger retired as an engineer from Verizon. He then started a firm R and R Enterprises Inc, with Robert Pumm for ten years. Roger built a chalet in Holiday Valley which his entire extended family, especially his eight grandchildren, enjoyed most weekends for 12 years. After 12 years of utter enjoyment, returned to the Town of Tonawanda permanently.The family will receive friends at the C. MERTZ AND SON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 911 Englewood Ave., Monday from 4 to 7 PM. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Please assemble at Church. Flowers gratefully declined. Roger and Grace lived across the street from us for decades, and we could not ask for finer neighbors. It gave us comfort knowing that, when our elderly mother lived in the house alone, they were there whenever she needed them. The relationship had reciprocity as Roger was frequently amused by our mother's ongoing battles with squirrels and other antics not usually undertaken by a woman her age, and he often chronicled them in photographs to be shared with us. Roger was the very definition of a good man, and we extend our condolences to Grace and the rest of the Baldinger family.
