Shirley BASIL Obituary
January 16, 2022. Beloved wife of Joseph F. Basil, Sr.; mother of Joseph F., Jr. (Lee), Charles (Nancy), Michael (Faith), John (Alison), Lisa (Robert) Fox, James (Mary Beth), and Robert (Susan) Basil; grandmother of Joseph III (Kelly), Katherine (David) Cline, David (Colleen), Laura Beth (Michael) Basil Oshea, Christine (Max) Brown, Charles (Katrina), Jessica, William (Jule), Lauren, Sean, Peter Mason Jr., James Jr., Erin, Mary Bridget, Kelly (Ramsey) Brame, Robert Jr., Jack and Patrick Basil; great-grandmother of 15; sister of the late Michael D. Roeder; also survived by nieces, nephews, her special friend Heidi Brown and her companion Quinn. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 3-7 PM, at the (Amherst Chapel), Amigone Funeral Home, Inc., 5200 Sheridan Dr. (at Hopkins). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory the Great Church, on Thursday, at 10:30 AM. (Please assemble at church). Mrs. Basil was a wonderful person and dear friend of my parents Rocco & Alice. She periodically trusted me as a babysitter, which was always a crazy and wonderful experience. As I grew up I admired Mrs. and Mr. Basil´s family and marriage.

Dear Basil Family - My sincere condolences to you all. My dad, Chickie, shared loving memories of Shirley with me last night. When I thought about the stories he told and my own personal memories, I realized Shirley had a unique way of making people feel special to her and loved by her. I also remember her trying to teach me to loosen up a little and move my shoulders more when dancing at a family wedding, probably 40 years ago!! She was very special to all of the Evans family!!!
