HE WAS A FRIEND OF MINE

How do you measure friendship? One good thought at a time. To me, Tommy was one of those guys you could always count on. Not just to help you out with a problem on your car, or body or paint work you needed done; but a guy you liked to be around. Someone you could count on to pick your spirit up if you were having a bad day. Someone you could vent on when you thought life sucked. He never complained about work, or money; although we all new things were tuff. He never complained about problems with the house, the garage, the taxes or bills; but he could have.

My God,.....what have we done? We have let one of the kindest, gentlest men we have known, slip out of our lives.

I could always count on Tommy (after he took a little 'nap'), to give him a call and say, hey Buddy, let's go have a beer (a 'rum & coke' was his favorite). Or, feel like a game of pool? Sure he'd say; then proceed to 'spank' you at your own game!

When you needed an extra pair of hands, Tommy was always there. When you didn't quite know what you were doing, he'd always look for another way without making you feel incompetent.

When you needed a laugh, Tommy could always provide one. He would drop his head to his chest, look over them wire-rim glasses and begin to spout 'profound' words of knowledge, as only Tommy could do! And he would laugh, and you would laugh, and laugh.....Oh god Tommy, I'll miss you!

p.s. Willie Nelson has a song he sings called "He Was A Friend Of Mine"...And, every time you hear it, I hope you think of Tommy.

A tribute to Tommy Coil, my friend.

Tom we only knew you for a few years but oh what fun we had! The parties at neighbor Dennis' house will never be the same. Who else would let their back yard be turned into a stage for a live band that plays Pink Floyd. You will always be fondly remembered and sadly missed. May you rest in peace our dear friend.

Tom, we had lots of fun my friend, even though it was a long time ago. The Indy 500, our 'almost trip' to the Snake River Canyon jump by Evil Kineivl. And of course all the Pig Roasts at Baschmanns in Cherry Creek. And I almost forgot, working at Elmer Millers gas station.
Lots of memories, just wish we had more time with you!
Rest in peace my friend, rest in peace!
