Thomas Mozingo Obituary

Mozingo, Thomas Edward "Tom"

Nov. 19, 1945 - March 15, 2024

A loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend, passed away on March 15, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 78. Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis (nee Bracco); loving son, Christopher (Chris), and daughter-in-law, Michelle; adored grandchildren, Kayla, James and Ava; brother, Gerald (Jerry); sister, Mary Amitrano, brother-in-law, Louis Amitrano and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; brother, William (Bill); sisters-in-law, Maureen and Dorothy; father, William; and mother, Rita. Born on November 19, 1945, in Buffalo, New York, Tom was the epitome of a loving and devoted family man. He was married to his beloved wife, Phyllis, for 54 wonderful years and you could always find them holding hands while walking. Tom was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always putting their needs above his own. As a father, Tom was nothing short of amazing and he was a great role model for his son, Chris. He worked hard to provide for his family, and also took great pride in spending quality time with them - whether on family vacations or everyday things like school activities or sporting events. When Chris & Michelle were blessed with children, he insisted that he and Phyllis help out in every way possible. Tom adored his grandchildren, Kayla, James and Ava, affectionately known as "Papa" to them. He showered them with love and attention, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever. Tom was known for his friendly nature and his ability to fix just about anything. He had a place for everything and believed in putting everything in its place, a trait that reflected his organized and methodical nature. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, Tom embarked on a successful career with Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated over three decades of service until his retirement in 2004. In his leisure time, Tom enjoyed indulging in his hobbies, particularly golf and cheering on his favorite teams, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Tom's life will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida. Tom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

I first met Tom when he was a young boy. Our friendship has stood the test of time. Phyllis became part of our friendship, as well. As a couple, they were perfect for each other. My husband and I enjoyed being in their company.

Tom was the type of person who could talk to anyone. And, he did! He had a "killer" smile to match his personality.

We were blessed to call him our friend. RIP, Tom Gone, but never forgotten.

Love, Marguerite (Murph) and Wally Laskowski.

Phyllis and the Rest of the Family
So sorry for your terrible loss. I have great memories of the Mozingos at my house at Christmas. We all had funtimes at my dining room table playing cards and having a lot of laughs. Tom's obituary was right on and no one could have said it better. My heart is heavy for all of you and I can say that I never met a nicer guy. My prayers are with you all and God Bless
