Of West Falls, passed away at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Diane S. Hopkins for 59 years; loving father of Brien (Eileen) Hopkins, Bret (Joan) Hopkins, and Denine (Benjamin) Cole; cherished grandfather of Justin, Casey, Megan, Colin, Erik, and Ryan Hopkins, Courtney Thomasula, Ashley Knapp, and Mason and Walker Cole; dear great-grandfather of Greyson, Lawson, Lainey, Madison, Julianna, and Nina; brother of Robert (Diane) and Mark (Rebecca) Hopkins; brother-in-law of Michael Orcutt; also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, October 24th, 3 to 7 pm at Comfort Funeral Home, Inc., 6469 Olean Rd., South Wales. Funeral service Saturday, October 25th, 11 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 53 W. Falls Rd., West Falls. Vernon was a proud Army Veteran, a dedicated NY Telephone employee for 29 years and a 43-year member of Mt. Vernon Lodge #263. He was an avid traveler, visiting all 50 states with his wife Diane, almost entirely by RV. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
