Walter Wieand Obituary

Beloved husband of Joanne (nee Meier) Wieand. Loving father of Heidi (Eric) von Recklinghausen. Loving brother of the late Otto (Rose) Wieand, Edward Wieand, Harry (Rita) Wieand and Richard (Leni) Wieand. Loving brother-in-law of Mary Ann Wieand, Ronald (Jill) Meier, Elaine (Anthony) Kronbeck and Monica (late James) Meier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Walter was a proud member of the SGTV Edelweiss Club. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 22nd, from 3-7pm at The Dietrich Funeral Home, 2480 Kensington Ave., Amherst, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, January 23rd, at Our Lady Help of Christians, 4125 Union Rd., Buffalo, NY. Please assemble at church. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Help of Christians Grotto Fund, Hospice Buffalo, or the Masonic Brothers. Online condolences may by placed at www.TheDietrichFuneralHome.com.

Joann, Heidi, and Eric-Our thoughts and prayers are with you, even though we cannot be. I have so many fond memories of Wally when Joe and I were growing up on Humason and the Wieands lived above the meat market, and later at Schleich-Wieand family reunions.
