So sorry to hear about your loss. May god help you through these sad times. I happened to find this online by accident. I don't know if you are interested in family history. I live in USA. I will give you my name and more info. per e-mail after you contact me.
I called your grandfather in 1973 when we came through Buffalo after visiting the Niagara Falls, and talked to him about the fact, that my grandfather's uncle on his dad's side left Germany and went to Buffalo in 1884 or so, my grandfather was your grandfather's cousin. We never had any contact with your family after that call.
My mother was your dad's 2nd cousin. If you really think about it, that is really not such distant family at all, because we knew our 2nd cousins in Germany very well. My mom and your dad shared the same great-grandparents. I am sure about that because I know our family tree. Our roots are the same roots as yours. My mom grew up during the first 6 years in the same small house that William Kasting grew up in until he went to Buffalo at age 14 around 1884. I was in that small house many times while I grew up. My mom lived there with her parents until she was 6 when they moved to the new house. My grandfather built a large new farm house at the edge of town.
My godmother, who was my mom's cousin lived in the small house that William came from with her parents after that. I find it very interesting that I was able to find so much information about all this online and I shared this info with the rest of my family. My German family has always talked about the William Kasting who immigrated to the US years ago.
German families never forgot that. My grandfather also had an uncle on his mom's side who went to Buffalo. Most likely these two men knew each other. I don't know what happened to him, but I do have a photo of him. I am very impressed with all the accomplishments of the first William Kasting and the ones after him. Amazing! It would be nice to hear back from you. Does your family still own the Kasting Wholesale Florist business or was it sold after your dad retired? My best wishes to your whole family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hope you all stay safe, well and healthy during this pandemic.

Bill, Laurie and Mark, Heartfelt condolences for your Dad's passing. He always treated me graciously and with a smile in my frequent visits to his house and cabin. Was the first person I knew with a car phone in the early 70's. Swam with my Dad on the Bennett swim team too!
