McDonald III, William H. "Billy"
Jul 3, 1967 - Nov 17, 2025
Of Springville, NY passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife of 30 years Colleen Malloy McDonald and his devoted family by his side. Until the end, he remained a man of deep faith who was always grateful for the countless blessings he had. Born in Scranton, Billy was the oldest child of Marie Millett McDonald (Clarks Summit) and the late William H. McDonald, Jr. After an idyllic childhood in Dalton spent with his family, his beloved grandmother Kathryn Millett, and his cousins, Billy graduated from Abington Heights High School in 1985 and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton in 1990. His career spanned four decades of building businesses, across a multitude of industries. A natural entrepreneur and motivator, Billy was able to see the potential in people and products and created value for all the myriad organizations to which he devoted his time and energy. From Scranton to Erie to Buffalo, Billy will be forever remembered for his ability to make deep and meaningful friendships, keeping his family, friends, and colleagues entertained with his quick wit, unique storytelling, and superior skills in the kitchen and on the grill. Billy's love of the outdoors and the sporting life, passed down from his father and uncles, was a passion he shared with his children, cousins, and closest friends. Memories of Billy and his beloved English setters searching the woods for woodcock, pheasants, and grouse will forever be treasured by those privileged enough to have shared days afield with him. For Billy, we will carry on these traditions of gathering friends and exploring the places where dogs and people alike find joy and purpose. Billy and his wife Colleen shared a relationship filled with love, laughter, and mutual friendship. He was immensely proud of their two children: Gwyneth McDonald (El Paso, TX) and William H. McDonald IV (Springville, NY). Gwyn and Will both served in the US military. Gwyn remains on active duty in the United States Army and Will is a United States Marine Corps veteran. Billy was incredibly moved by their patriotism and beamed when he shared the stories of their service to the country, which he too loved. Billy is survived by two siblings: Kate Sebring and her husband Kevin (Clarks Summit) and Patrick McDonald and his wife Molly (Clarks Summit). He is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews, cousins, and in-laws among the McDonald, Millett, and Malloy families. Billy was truly one of a kind; he will no doubt live on in all the hearts he left behind. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday December 4th from 4 to 7p.m. at the Jennings Calvey Funeral Home, 111 Colburn Ave, Clarks Summit, PA., 18411. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 5th at 10:00am at the Church of Saint Gregory, 330 N. Abington Rd., Clarks Green, PA., 18411.
