Marian Quick Obituary

Marian Kathlyn Quick, "Kathy", age 78, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at Taylor House in Des Moines.
Kathy was born in Vancouver, Washington on May 23, 1943. While young, her family traveled a lot for her dad's work and eventually settled in Buffalo, Missouri. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1961.
Kathy worked various jobs throughout the Des Moines area, including Mid-American Energy for many years. Most recently, she worked at Lakeside Casino in Osceola, where she retired.
Kathy was very proud of her grandchildren and loved them tremendously; they were her world. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed bowling (back in the day), spending time reading, watching Jeopardy, and being with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her nieces, Betsy Oglesbee and Lisa Oglesbee; her parents, Marion and Nellie Oglesbee, and a brother, Richard Oglesbee.
She is survived by her only son, Mike (Sandy) Quick Jr.; grandchildren, Matt Quick and Megan Quick; brothers, David (Pat) Oglesbee and Neal (Sarah) Oglesbee; and nieces, Jenny (Oglesbee) Griffith, Lee Ella Oglesbee, Mary (Oglesbee) Hunt, Diane Oglesbee and Carrie (Oglesbee) Terrill.
Kathy was a loved mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She enjoyed being involved in the lives of her extended family and friends; everyone was family to Kathy. Her warm laugh, hugs, and positivity will be cherished forever.
A celebration of life was held Sunday, August 8 near her home in Iowa. Graveside services will be held under the conduction of Vernon Vest at Flatwoods Cemetery in Lebanon, MO at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 14.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice of Des Moines, Iowa, or the charity of the donor's choice.
