Carlos Scott Obituary

JESUP – Carlos E. "Scotty" Scott, 67, Jesup, died from respiratory failure, Sunday, April 3, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 19, 1944, in Independence, the son of William Elewood Scott and Patricia Mae (Hanna) Scott. On April 29, 1962, he and the former Grace Elaine Seemann were married at Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural LaPorte City. They have made their home around Jesup since 1965 and eight years ago, moved into town. Carlos sometimes known as "Butch" and other times "Scotty" worked 28 years for John Deere and Co. in Waterloo, starting in the foundry and then later on the assembly line. He retired from John Deere in 1995. He was a member of UAW Local 838 in Waterloo, and served as a board member of the Indian Ridge Association, at Lake Rathbun in Southern Iowa. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural LaPorte City.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Grace Scott, Jesup; three daughters: Sharon (Mike) Winters, Jesup, Shelly Durnil (Bob Auchampach), Lake Mills, and Sheila (Wes) Knutson, Jesup; six grandchildren; two brothers: Harry (Connie) Scott, Independence, and Steve (Pat) Scott, Raymond; two sisters: Carol (David) Draper, Cedar Falls, and Billie Jo Tonn, Independence; and a brother-in-law, Harvey See, Independence. His parents, a granddaughter, Amanda Knutson, a sister, Nancy See, and a brother-in-law, Richard Tonn, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, 12007 Jubilee Road, LaPorte City. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran-Jubilee Cemetery, rural LaPorte City. Visitation will be an hour before services today at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Grace and Family,

I can't express enough how deeply saddened I am by the news of Scotty's passing. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for your loss. I will be thinking of you in this moment of pain. Scotty will be gone from our sight but never from our hearts. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort. My sincerest condolences go out to you.
