David McInteer Obituary

INDEPENDENCE – David P. McInteer, 63, of Independence, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Independence Rehabilitation Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence, presided by Very Rev. David Beckman. Inurnment will be held at St. John's Cemetery. The Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
David was born on November 27, 1961, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Tim and Joanne (Harland) McInteer. He grew up on a farm south of Independence. He loved helping on the farm and driving tractors. In 1981, he graduated from Independence High School and later moved off the farm and into Independence. Dave worked part-time during the summers mowing lawns. He loved going for long walks and visiting friends. Over the years he made many friends and loved to talk with them. Dave loved to help out anyone he could.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and served as a hospitality minister there for many years.
He also enjoyed playing cards, word search puzzles, watching stock car races, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his siblings, Mike McInteer, Mesa, Arizona, Kathy (Chris) Riniker, Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Teresa (Bob) Schremser, Independence.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Tim and Joanne McInteer.
The McInteer family would like to thank the staff at Independence Rehabilitation Center for their outstanding care and friendship. And a special thanks to his card shark player, Glenn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Courageous in honor of David.
