OELWEIN – Gerald V. "Jerry" Lamphere, 77, of Randalia, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 16, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, with Rev. Jim Brokman officiating. Visitation was 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Parish Scripture Service was held 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton.

Gerald Vernell Lamphere was born May 22, 1935, near Aurora, the son of Harold J. and Elva Lorraine (Chase) Lamphere. He graduated from the Stanley High School in 1953. Jerry proudly served in the Oelwein National Guard for eight years. On Sept. 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Grace Marie Keppler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. Jerry farmed for many years in the Randalia area. He was also employed at Farmstead in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Ham in Oelwein and Par Mer Security in Cedar Rapids and Securitas in Iowa City. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Jerry enjoyed farming, helping his children, IH Tractors, dining out, spending time with his children, grandchildren and visiting with everyone.
Jerry is survived by his Wife, Grace Lamphere of Randalia; six children, Thomas (Dawn) Lamphere of Maynard, Kevin (Gina) Lamphere of Hazleton, Mark Lamphere of Randalia, Byron (Tabatha Roneker) Lamphere of Maynard, Greg (Carol) Lamphere of Rogers, Minn. and Kristin (Dwayne Harris) Lamphere of Omaha, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Dean) Teuscher of Milton, Wisc. and Karen (Paul Ganske) Rohrig of Oelwein; and a brother, Verdell Lamphere of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Austin Aron Lamphere; brother, Marvin Lamphere; parents-in-law; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Zajicek and John Rohrig.
