John Bowden Obituary

MASONVILLE – John Anderson Bowden, "Jack" and Grandpa John to his extended family and friends died on April 29, 2025 in Wisconsin at the age of 87.
Funeral services were held at Loecke Funeral Home in Waterloo, Iowa on Saturday, May 3, 2025. His family, friends, especially his loved ones in Iowa were not notified.
John was born on February 18, 1938, in Independence, Iowa. He graduated from the Lamont High School.
He proudly served in the army, he was a truck driver for many years and worked for Tyson in Waterloo for several unenjoyable years.
John enjoyed his Saturday morning Farmer's Market in Independence where he purchased his favorite pecan caramel rolls and bless the lady that made them! He enjoyed serving the French fries at the American Legion suppers in Lamont and on Sunday morning eating at the pancake breakfast in Aurora, because those pancakes were hot off of the griddle. He never missed a chance to attend area churches or school suppers.
John was married to Yvonne who was killed in a car accident in 1997. He met a very special friend, Pauline Saunders and spent a few years with her until her passing in 2003.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale; two sisters, Audrey Bowden and Jean Koohy; nephews, Harlen and Galen Bowden; great niece, Denise; and great nephew, Arthur.
Left to remember John and treasure the memories are his loving family, Brad and Ann (Saunders) Ridenour, Masonville; Austin and Cate Wickman, Cedar Rapids; Hannah Wickman, Masonville; nephew, Paul Koohy; niece, Karen (Ron) Anderson, Stockbridge, Georgia; great nieces and nephews; and many other family members. Also his beloved canine friend, Bentley.
In lieu of memorials please give to your local churches, fire department or the American Legion Post 346, Lamont, Iowa.
