Kathleen J. Boies-Jackson

Kathleen J. Boies-Jackson, 73, of Independence, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Kathleen was born on March 16, 1952, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Richard and Betty (Downing) Sherrets. She grew up in Independence and attended the Independence Community Schools. On September 20, 1968, she was united in marriage to David A. Boies Sr. The couple made their home in Independence. Kathy worked at Iowa Ham in Independence, for more than twenty years before retiring in 2015. Following the passing of her husband David in 2012, she moved to Oelwein, IA, and continued working-first as a nurse's aide at the Oelwein Care Center and later at McDonald's in Oelwein.

She is survived by her children: David (Stephanie) Boies Jr., Russell "Rusty" (Suelyn) Boies, and Jennifer (Mark) Anderson, eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Rick (Karen) Sherrets, her sister, Cindy (Mark) Bagby, her sister-in-law, Ava Sherrets, and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, David Boies Sr.; and her second husband, Terry Jackson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
