INDEPENDENCE – Richard G. Fink, 89, of Independence, Iowa, and formerly of Fairbank, Iowa, died Thursday morning, April 11, 2024, at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence.
Public Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.
A private family graveside service will be held at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
Memorials may be directed in his name to the ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Iowa.

Richard Gustav Fink was born January 19, 1935, on the family farm in rural Fairbank, the son of Ernest Edward and Bertha (Greaning) Fink. He was the fifth of six children. He graduated from Oran High School. In May of 1953, Richard married Bonnie Dell Nolte at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children: Kerri, Brad, Kim, Jody, Troy and Penni. Jody and Penni died at infancy and Troy died on June 25, 1975. Richard and Bonnie later divorced. On May 1, 1994, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Ruth (Smale) Sargent in Oelwein. Richard farmed all his life and had several jobs in town.
Richard is survived by his three sons: Kerri (Lorraine) Fink of Mitchellville, Brad Fink of Fairbank, and Kim (Linda) Fink of Sumner; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Don Fink of Washington; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn Sargent Fink on September 27, 2021; three children: Jody, Troy and Penni; siblings, Clair (Gloria) Fink, Rachel (Virgil) Wedemeier, Joan (Vernon) Wedemeier, and Julia (Ray) Oltrogge; sister-in-law, Phyllis Fink; and niece: Patty Fink.
