Michael Parsons Obituary
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Tennant Funeral Home. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mike was born on Dec. 20, 1948, in Stratton to William Francis and Louise Elizabeth (Balanga) Parsons and lived his early years in Denver.
He attended grade and middle school in Denver and later Kittredge where he attended Evergreen High School.
Mike worked as a mechanic around the Denver area until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969.
He was in the artillery division and served his country with great distinction during the Vietnam War.
Mike was injured by a claymore mine during his service and recovered from his physical wounds in the Veteran's Hospital.
He received the Purple Heart for his service in the Army.
In the mid 1970s, Mike moved to Sterling where he met and fell in love with his beloved soul mate Peggy Steele.
Mike and Peggy were blessed with two boys, Dan and Ben Parsons.
Mike loved his family and friends and enjoyed music, working on classic vehicles, watching movies, Veterans activities, costume design and apparel, and especially loved singing Karaoke at Jambalayas and other night clubs in Colorado with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.
Mike is survived by his two children, Dan and Ben Parsons; sister Gloria Lamle of Burlington; brothers William (Sandy) Parsons and Vern Parsons of Burlington; best friend Conrad Bostron of Merino; step-daughter Tracey Steele; nephews Keith (Laura) Lamle, Alvin (Kriste) Lamle, Dustin (Dalene) Parsons, and Cory Parsons; niece Melanie Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents William and Louise Parsons, his beloved soul mate Peggy Steele, nephew Kelly Parsons, and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Mike Parsons Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.
