ANNE DUNHAM McCULLOUGH BURLINGTON - Anne Dunham McCullough, 40, of Burlington, passed away early Monday morning, June 14, 2010. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. to parents Samuel and Katharine McCullough. Annie graduated from Wyomissing High School in 1987, received her B.A from Denison College in 1991, and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Vermont in 1996. Annie was deeply involved with helping others, as shown in her work over the years as a high school social worker at Mount Mansfield Union High School. Her most recent work was at Turning Point as Volunteer Coordinator. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and a fierce advocate for them. Annie was also very involved the Burlington community and her bright spirit will be missed by her friends, colleagues, clients and students. Annie is survived by her son, Holden Graham McCullough Richard; her parents, Sam and Kay; and sisters, Bonnie, Beth, Rebecca and Molly; as well as her beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephew and brothers-in-law. Annie was a beautiful, profound, loving, fun and wonderful woman, with a smile that lit up a room. Her greatest joy was spending time with her son. She also enjoyed yoga, tennis, giggling, tea dates, taking long walks, journaling, hanging out with her family, dancing and just enjoying her life, bringing joy into the lives of everyone she met. "You can shed tears that she is gone, or smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or can be full of the love you shared...." -David Harkins The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 19 at 11 a.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Burlington. A reception will follow at the church.
