BRADLEY NADEAU Obituary

BRADLEY DAVID NADEAU - ESSEX JUNCTION - Bradley David Nadeau, 17, of Essex Junction, died on Saturday, April 28, 2012, while vacationing in Richmond, Va. He was born in Burlington on Sept. 22, 1994, the son of Brian Nadeau and Shanne Lovely. Brad was a junior at Essex High School and was proud to be a member of the soccer and track team for his school. He loved being surrounded by all of his friends and team mates. Brad was a strong, respectful and kind-hearted young man with a protective nature about him when it came to his family and friends. Brad was the type of kid that could flash his beautiful smile - that made it easy to spoil him. Brad had a strong passion to help others and had decided to pursue becoming a surgeon to do just that. Some of Brad's favorite times were laughing and hanging with his buddies, playing those late night Xbox games and joking with his brother, Colby, teaching his little sister, Ava, to kick a soccer ball or spending time with his Gramma, with whom he had a special bond and loved so very much. He loved listening to music, drawing, and was always up for traveling on vacations with his friends, his school or his family. He is survived by his father, Brian J. Nadeau and his companion, Linda Irish; his mother, Shanne Lovely of Essex Junction; his brother, Colby Nadeau; his sister, Ava June Lovely; his maternal great-grandmother, E. June Coombs; his maternal grandmother, Helen Coombs and her companion, Thomas Carr; his maternal grandfather, David Coombs; his paternal grandmother, Elaine Nadeau; Uncle David Coombs (who Brad was so much like) and Aunt Jessica Coombs and their children Brayden and Grace; aunts, Carol and Daniel Reynolds, and Susan Pelley and partner, Darlene Rogers; cousins, Benjamin Reynolds, Aaron Reynolds, Zachary Reynolds and Jennifer Pelley; also many other extended family members. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, John Nadeau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church on West Street in Essex Junction. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Essex High School Gymnasium. To send online condolences, please visit www.readyfuneral.com. Brad's family would like to send special thanks to the EMT's, the Ronald McDonald House of Richmond, Va., and all of the kind wonderful people at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. Also a special thanks to Kevin, Logan, Zach, Caleb and Truong. We will be forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bradley D. Nadeau Scholarship Fund and mailed to Essex High School, 2 Educational Dr., Essex Junction, VT 05452. It is with a heavy heart that we say go in peace to our precious Brad. You will be forever remembered. We will miss you.

No words seem to be enough when you lose your precious son, grandson, brother....but I know how comforting it is to hear from those who are thinking of you and communicate what's in their heart. You have an amazing family and incredible friends....they will help you get through this. And Shanne, from one mother to another, who has lost a child, keep breathing, take one baby step at a time and embrace all the love and support that is being sent your way. It will help carry you through.

Dear Shane, Colby, Ava and Brian,
The jolt to my heart and deep sadness I feel upon hearing of Brad's tragic death is indescribable. When I remember Brad, I think of his constant love, concern and caring for his family, his great big smile "just because", those arms raised high when he made a goal and that twinkle in his eye when he got his first fishing pole and tackle box. Now Grandpa can take his hand as they watch over you. Brad was deeply loved by all who knew him. Your family is in my constant thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time. I'm so sorry for your pain and loss.

The Maguire Family hearts overflowed with sadness at the news of Brad's passing. He was a gifted athlete and even more remarkable young man off the field. We will forever cherish the memories of our EU soccer days! Brad along with his brother Colby were two of the nicest, most coachable kids to have on a soccer team. I'm sure Brad is in heaven still working on perfecting the bicycle kick. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

May 2, 2012

Having coached Brad through at least two seasons of United U12s and U14s, I remember Brad as a talented athlete who could take mad touches on a soccer ball. That alone does not speak to his character. He was also a very coachable kid, which alongside Coach Pol and Coach Earisman's sentiments, speaks volumes about his character. His attitude made coaching fun.

Brad was everything a coach could ever hope for as an athlete and a person. He was determined, focused and meticulus to do better. Brad never settled for where he was as an athlete at the present, but was more interested in how good he could be if he worked harder and became a better technical sprinter at every practice. Brad made his teammates better by being a quiet example of what great effort and a passion for being as good as he could be each and every day. Brad, I have only known you for three years, but you have made me a so much better coach. It would be my goal to have each athlete train as you would have. Brad, I will miss you. Coach Pol
