Ferne Bristol Williams, age 99, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Lodge at Otter Creek.

Mrs. Williams was born in Middlebury on January 28, 1917. She was the daughter of Charles Leo and Olive (Shackett) Bristol. She grew up in Brandon where she received her early education and was graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1935. She earned her PhB degree from the University of Vermont, Class of 1939. Following her college graduation she moved to Boston where she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company among others. On March 18, 1944, she married Arthur Charles Williams, of Garden City, NY, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brandon. Mr. Williams predeceased her January 4, 1998. She enjoyed golf, gardening, opera, and ballet and was a nature and animal lover. She was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her 2 sons: Christopher Williams and his wife Diane Irene Williams of Acton, MA, and Jeffrey Williams of Atlanta, GA; 1 grandson, Aidan Nathanial Williams of Acton, MA; a niece, Linda Williams Spears of Houston, TX, and a nephew, Guy Williamson and his wife Amy of South Burlington, VT.

The memorial service "In Celebration of Her Life" will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 4 PM, at the Residence at Otter Creek. A private graveside committal service and burial will precede the service, in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Following the ceremony the family will receive in the Founders Room, at The Residence, for a time of remembrance.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
