GRAYDON NORMAN DEAN LONGLEY

GRAYDON NORMAN DEAN LONGLEY BARRE - Graydon Norman Dean Longley, age 79, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at home in Barre, surrounded by family. Born June 5, 1932, in Lowell, he was the son of Elizabeth (Emery) and Clifton Longley. He worked as a farm hand while young, and after graduating high school was employed as a truck driver for HP Hood for many years. Graydon was a member of the Vermont National Guard and was active during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Army of Occupation medal for his service. He was also a life member of both the American Legion and the VFW. Graydon was married to Ann B. Longley in 1980, and together they shared 31 years. He lived in Agawam, Mass. and Troy, Vt. before settling in Barre for the past three years. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and being a father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifton and Elizabeth Longley. Graydon is survived by his wife, Ann B. Longley; his sons, Randall Longley, Jim Boyle and John Boyle; his daughter, Kathleen Corcoran; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters, Grace Edney and Beverly Norton; and brothers, Emery Longley, Clifton Longley and Leroy Longley. The family would like to thank Amanda, Bonnie and Melanie from CVHH for all that they did. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Vermont Veterans Cemetery of Randolph. Todd Soble will officiate.
