My sincere condolences to the Hickey and O'Brien families. It's so heartbreaking to learn of Jim's illness and all too early passing. From our early days growing up together playing street hockey on Linden Terrace and baseball at South Park, to later years when Jim became one of our first employees at GT Bagel Factory, I always knew Jim to have such a kind and caring soul. Jim made great bagels and wonderful memories with my family for 17 years. Jim always had a book in his hand when he wasn't working. Jim's keen intellect always provided for great conversations about everything from sports to world affairs. The good Lord pulled you from the game too early my friend, I wish he would have let you play all nine innings. Rest in peace.

Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. Hickey, and the entire family, I was so saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was such a great guy. I had the pleasure of working alongside Jim for 17 years at our family business. We were so very fortunate to have such a loyal, dedicated, easy-going, hard worker as Jim. But more importantly, I was lucky to have Jim as a friend both at and outside of work. So many great stories, memories, and laughs which I will always cherish. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was so saddened to read about Jim’s passing. He was such a great guy and we hung out in the same group back in the Christ the King and Rice Memorial days. A wonderful soul with such a kind heart. Many blessings to all of Jim’s family and prayers going out to have our Heavenly Father wrap his arms around Jim.
With Fond memories, Jennifer Mullen (now Holmes).

I am so so sorry to read that Jim has passed far too soon. I first met him as a child and if I remember correctly it had something to do with Boy Scouts. He literally recognized me 20 years later! We always caught up when I would see him at work no matter how busy he was (and boy did he work his tail off). Great guy! So laid back with an easy smile. He was a pleasure to know and I’m very sorry for your loss.

Sharon , what a shock. I am so sorry for you and your family. I have so many memories of Jim as he played a huge part of my life growing up. Great buddy from a great family. Spent many days and nights at his house and camp! My sincere condolences. Jim was one of the good ones.

To Sharon, Jackson, Grace and the entire Hickey and O'Brien families,
Beth & I send our thoughts and prayers. Although our paths have not crossed for many years, back in high school and through college and years after that, you were more than a friend, you felt like a brother to me. It seems we did everything together. The stories, I will remember for the rest of my life. To this day they bring a smile and more often then not, they make me laugh out loud. Gone too soon but never will you be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

JIM was a good boss and mentor. We would share stories about our daughters. When I left price chopper we always chatted if I went in to shop. Rest easy my friend , shrink is someone else's issue now.

Sharon, Jackson and Grace we are so very sad to hear about Jim. I would see him in the Essex Price Chopper and he always talked about how the kids were doing in Colorado. I will miss running into him. Thinking of you all. Terri and John Learned

Jim "Hicks" I lost track of you after you left Price Chopper in StA but it was always great to say hi and have a quick chat with you when we had the chance. It's hard to believe it's been over 45 years since you, Varment, Mac, Cooch, Sully and myself among others were all hanging out together in the neighborhood or cruising the streets being knuckleheads...great times and lots of laughs. Both you and Cooch have left way too soon but I hope the two of you are catching up with each other now. Rest in Peace!!
