This gentle man was a mentor and influenced my life greatly. I had the pleasure of working for him - and with him. I carry with me always, the lessons he taught me, just by being an example of how to walk through life - with integrity and compassion. Thank you, John.

Terri and I are sorry to hear of John passing away. He was a wonderful guy, and a leader in the Burlington community for many years. He was a true gentleman, and will be greatly missed.
Our condolences to the entire Carpenter family.

Mr. Carpenter was one of the nicest and finest people I ever met. Always had a smile...always took an interest in people...always so positive. The world would be a much better place if there were more John Carpenters.
My condolences to the entire family.

I was young when we moved from Burlington but visited often until college. The highlight of any trip was a visit with the Carpenters at Oakledge. I know my parents always spoke highly of their friends Connie and John. They lived a wonderful life together and are now reunited.

I had the pleasure of taking car of Mr. Carpenter at Wake Robin. I would play the recorder for him, he had a heart of gold and I will truly miss him. He has forever touched my heart and has made me a better care giver and person!

Though I moved from Burlington when very young, I visited often. Visits with the Carpenters were always a highlight! My parents, Andy and Charlotte Anderson, had such fun with Connie and John during the ten years they lived in Burlington. They lived beautiful lives together and now they're reunited.

Warmest hugs to all Carpenters and relations as Margery and I think of you through tears and with the fondest of memories -- camp, the boat, tennis, fireworks, parties -- so much fun balanced by so many good works in service to our community. What an extraordinary, generous, charming, fun, accomplished and inspiring human being. He was still twinkling as only he could when we last saw him, and he leaves a remarkable legacy. Love to all.
