JOSEPH K. LOUGHNER - ESSEX - Joseph K. Loughner, 21, of Essex, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. He was born in Johnson City, N.Y., on July 9, 1990, the son of Karl and Kathleen (Swaiko) Loughner. He graduated from Essex High School, Class of 2008. Joe attended Penn State University and transferred to the University of Vermont, where he was a computer science major. Joe was a loving son, brother, grandson and uncle. He was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Joe is survived by his parents, Karl and Kathleen Loughner of Essex; brothers, Michael Loughner and wife, Stephanie, of Denver, Colo., Christopher Loughner and wife, Marianne, of Washington, D.C., John Loughner and wife, Katherine, of Washington, D.C.; maternal grandmother, Rose Swaiko of South Burlington; and nieces, Molly and Adalyn Loughner, who loved their Uncle Joe. He is also survived by uncles and aunt, Daniel Loughner of Princeton, N.J., and Richard and Lorraine Palermo of Lower Burrell, Pa. Joe was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Elizabeth Loughner; and his maternal grandfather, Nicholas Swaiko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church in Essex. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Underhill.
