LOUISE BASHAW Obituary

LOUISE LADD NEWTON BASHAW - GEORGIA - Louise Ladd Newton Bashaw passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at age 85. Louise was a lifelong resident of Georgia and one of ten children born to Allen and Gertrude (Ladd) Newton. She attended the Georgia Center School, graduating in 1939. She graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans in June of 1943, where she was recognized for academic excellence. Louise then graduated from B.F.A. in July 1985, where she received a degree as a Nurse Assistant. She was a member of the Georgia United Methodist church and was baptized in the Church in July 1931. Louise became a member of the Georgia Jolly Homemakers 4H Club in 1939. She was also a member of the Vermont State Grange beginning in 1945. Louise loved traveling and her hobbies included bowling. Louise was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1962, and their oldest daughter, Susan, in 1998; and her siblings, Donald, Ethan, Lyle, Margaret, Nancy and Marion. She is survived by daughters, Alice Chryst of Georgia and Ruth Pariser of New York, N.Y.; and son, Wendell Bashaw of Enosburg. She is also survived by four grand- children and two greatgrandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother, Philip resides in Michigan; and sisters, Betty and Helen, reside in North Dakota and Arizona, respectively. Louise's family would like to thank Allyn Chase Denton, her caregiver; Visiting Nurses Association Hospice; and Dr. Karen Fromhold and her staff for the care and support given to her and her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the Georgia United Methodist Church on Ethan Allen Highway, Georgia Center. Following the service Louise will be interred in the family lot in Georgia Plain Cemetery. Private messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneral home.com. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that contributions be made to the tornado victims, c/o the American Red Cross Tornado Relief Fund, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013.
