MARIE HIER

MARIE (LUCIA) HIER - BRISTOL - Marie (Lucia) Hier, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, in Helen Porter Memory Care Unit in Middlebury. She was born on Aug. 29, 1935, in Bristol, the daughter of John Lucia and Dorothy (King) Lucia. Marie enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting with her husband. She also got pleasure from family, holidays (especially Christmas), gardening, reading, music, crafts and Victorian doll houses. Most of all, Marie will be remembered for her phenomenal cooking skills. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Franklin D. Hier; stepmother, Caroline Delisle; daughter, Arthea Leggett and partner, David; daughter, Roxann Cousino and husband, James; daughter, Lisa Payne and husband, Kevin; son, Arthur Cyr and fiancee, Anna; son, Franklin D. Hier II; daughter, Wanda Bouvier and husband, James "Buzzy;" daughter, Tracie Cassarino and husband, Paul; brother, John Lucia and wife, Shirley; brother, George Lucia and wife, Linda; sister, Margaret Wendel and husband, Hal; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, John Lucia; mother, Dorothy (Lucia) Mitchel; sister, Yolan Litchfield; grandson, Evan Payne; great-granddaughter, Olivia Scott; and nephew, Ryan Wendel. A memorial service will be held at St. Ambrose in Bristol on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Memory Care Unit, 30 Porter Drive, Middlebury, VT 05753.
