Peter Nelson Chagnon

Age: 73 • Chelsea, OK

Peter Nelson Chagnon, a 73 year old resident of Chelsea, OK passed away in Tulsa on November 24, 2015. Peter was born February 8, 1942 in Burlington, VT to Clarence and Loraine S. (Couture) Chagnon. After completing his education he served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Marlene M. (Blow) Chagnon. Peter retired from Burlington Free Press newspaper where he had worked as a Pressman. He put first color at the St. Albans Messenger Paper Co. Peter, Marlene, and their daughter, Kim moved to Oklahoma together to join Dewayne Whitaker who was Peter's best friend. Peter liked to hunt and fish - his favorite was ice fishing. In his last days, Peter talked of his grandson, Peter R. Smith, and of watching Godzilla movies with him. He also talked of The Bike Club, Bison that he started with Kim and his hopes that she keep it going. How thankful for she helped her mother and him most her life. He talk on friend Dewayne how he made his wife and his wish by being at the ranch and how he wants him and Kim continue making others have their dreams come true too. Pete will be going to camp then to Alamo then be with his wife Marlene and Tink. How he so enjoyed their restaurant . He told funny stories about his time working at the Press like taking a bite of pumpkin pie from his dear friend, Wally Clapper. Picked on friends Jimmy and Howle and others… Peter's favorite word was "Kakyboo".

He was preceded in death by his parents Loraine and Clarence Chagnon; his wife, Marlene M. (Blow) Chagnon; a brother, Wayne Chagnon; grandkids, Tiff and Christopher Chagnon; and his canine pal, Tinkerbell and friend B. John and dear friend Kevin Adler. He will be missed but not forgotten by his loving daughter who took care of him, Kim (Chagnon) Walker; a daughter, Kia; a son, Ken; best friend, Dewayne Whitaker and Tim Geraw; Apple eye-Peter R. Smith, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
